Infinity Memorial
It’s not often I create something on request but this one was very special .
I was asked to come up for an idea to make an artwork, a memorial ‘tombstone’ for someone who tragically passed away last year.
While listening and talking to the family the idea started to grow and take shape to make an installation that makes the viewer look up instead of down.
A mirror reflects, it reflects
everything above it, it reflects the sky, the sun, the moon, the cosmos, the infinite…
The design is kept very simple and straight (vertically) forward but I did make a small reference with a symbol that dates back to 500 years BC in budism, hinduisme, Jainism…
The endless knot, the symbol for infinity.
Standing for the union of compassion, method and harmony in the universe and the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth.
The artwork is now installed at Carla’s last resting place at the church burying ground of Hakendover, Tienen.
Thanks for the trust Dirk Holsbeek and his family.
